Be a Musical Star!
with Tony and Daphne Matthews
DO YOU LOVE SINGING, PERFORMING AND THEATRE or have you ever had a secret desire to be in a musical?
Join us for the “Musical in a Week” experience by being part of the production of The Happy Prince, a wonderful musical based on the story by Oscar Wilde. His story had, and still has, a positive message for society–one of giving and self-sacrifice.
The “Musical in a Week” experience will combine the teaching of singing, acting, and dance with lots of fun and laughter to encourage and release the creativity within you.
For those who think singing is not for them, there are non-singing roles and opportunities for set design, costuming, and stage-management. There is something for the whole family, aged six and up.
Rehearsals will take place in the morning with the possibility of extra rehearsals an hour before supper. The week will culminate with a performance for the rest of the camp.
TONY and DAPHNE MATTHEWS are a musical, married couple. Tony (piano) is a full-time composer/pianist and Daphne (violin) teaches classroom music in a private school in Calgary.
Both are experienced performers and are active in the Calgary theatre world. Together they have written six musicals for school children as well as two multi-generational musicals. All have been performed either in England or in Calgary.
